Theatre
At the Arts and Aging Network, we create inclusive, engaging, and accessible performances designed to bring people together through storytelling, music, and shared experiences. Our productions are thoughtfully crafted to ensure accessibility for diverse audiences, including older adults, and those living with dementia.
What is the difference between traditional theatre?
The majority of our performances are booked at senior homes and long-term care facilities, ensuring that those who may not be able to attend traditional theatre spaces can still experience high-quality, professional, and accessible performances. As we continue to grow, we will expand our offerings, providing more productions to choose from. Additionally, we typically present a handful of public performances, welcoming members of the broader community to experience our work.

Whether it’s a sensory-friendly performance like By the Sea, which uses minimal language and immersive sounds, or interactive shows like The VOWR Show, where familiar music and participatory elements invite audiences to engage, each production is designed with connection in mind.

All of our shows are meant to be enjoyed with loved ones and/or carers, fostering moments of joy, reminiscence, and shared experience through the power of theatre.
What are the benefits of this program?
Participatory arts experiences provide sensory and cognitive stimulation, opportunity for expression, and shared enjoyment of an experience with loved ones.

"The stimulation of cognitive functions such as memory, attention, problem-solving, and creativity can help slow down cognitive decline and maintain cognitive abilities for a longer period" (Simi Ghuman- Radfield Care UK).
