Theatre

At the Arts and Aging Network, we create inclusive, engaging, and accessible performances designed to bring people together through storytelling, music, and shared experiences. Our productions are thoughtfully crafted to ensure accessibility for diverse audiences, including older adults, and those living with dementia.

What makes our shows different?

Our theatre work is designed with dementia inclusion at its core. Performances are flexible, responsive, and centred on connection rather than memory or the need to follow the plot. Audiences are welcomed to engage in ways that feel natural to them — whether that means singing along, speaking, moving, watching quietly, or stepping in and out of attention.

Our productions are created and performed by professional musical theatre artists. We hire artists as performers, writers, musicians, and members of the creative team, ensuring strong artistic quality alongside thoughtful, dementia-inclusive practice. Our artists adapt their work in real time to the people, space, and energy in the room.

Our work is created to travel and to meet people where they are, including care homes, community spaces, and rural settings where access to live theatre can be limited.

All of our shows are meant to be enjoyed with loved ones and/or carers, fostering moments of joy, recognition, and shared experience through the power of theatre.
